Nothing is like autumn. Saying adios to 90 degree heat and the ever persistent humidity that creeps into my hair sending it whisping all over my head like a maniac’s crown  gives me a renewed energy. Saying hello to crispy weather, comfort foods and colorful ginkgo leaves makes it all worth the torture. It is the best part of the year and the part I wait (somewhat) patiently for during those other three seasons. Seoul | Lantern Festival

On a cold, dark night (at around 6:30 because Winter is crazy…where does the sun go so soon??) my friend and I ventured down to the Cheonggyecheon Stream and looked at some beautiful lanterns in the company of every single, solitary person currently living in Seoul.  Well, it felt like that anyway. As I tried to slowly stroll along the stream I fought back possibly a million tiny ajummas with their new cameras as they spent time not enjoying the lantern festival but capturing every picture they could. There must be some new crazy for the aging to take photography classes because this situation was everywhere. I know I’m not really selling it but it was a nice display and worth the visit. However, visit on the weekdays to avoid half the population of Seoul on Saturday evening.
