Kyoto Food Collection

After taking a healthy hiatus from blogging, I’ve returned ever so gently with a blog about food.  I took a jaunt over to Japan for Christmas this year and ate some amazing things. I travel to eat in a new location. You too? We are probably very cool. Just like you, I spend more time researching food and restaurants than possibly anything else before a vacation. I will gladly leave a monument early to get to a restaurant rated well on Tripadvisor. You can learn a world of things with just a picture of food. So I spent a good deal of my very precious time usually reserved for rewatching 30 Rock to research all the amazing food I could shove in my mouth in Kyoto. The city of Kyoto is breathtaking. It looks like a fairy tale, it’s immaculate and people have manners. I felt like it was a world away from the rushed and stressed life I sometimes live here in Seoul (🖤  you Seoul) although it’s only a 2 hour plane ride away. At different …

Frozen Foam Beer |A Review|

I probably would not have done a review of this fantabulous summertime treat but I see it popping up all over my Seoul neighborhood and I wanted to encourage you to try it. I had this bad boy on the last night of my Jeju vacation. I might have had a couple, I can’t remember. I wanted something cold and refreshing and this just sounded weird enough for me. So…what is it? It is regular beer with a frothy, icy, lemon flavored foam on top that tastes like beer shaved ice. It is a Willy Wonka Wonderful adult treat right up there with Lobster Mac + Cheese or Game of Thrones. If you happen across a place selling these, as we are still in the twilight of summer, give it a whirl. I think the appeal will wear off when it is bone chilling cold outside!

Sangria |Slushies!|

I love my new blender, folks! L.O.V.E. I had loads of fruit and a blender and a bottle of wine…it didn’t take long to figure out what I was planning.  These drinks are quite decadent (can I use that word?) sweet and thick…and so perfect for a brunch or cocktail hour. Obviously perfect for summer and might be even better frozen into a Popsicle. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m thinking about it! Ingredients for Mango + Papaya Sangria Slushie 1 large mango, cut into chunks 1 large papaya, cut into chunks 2 tablespoons sweetener (I used organic maple syrup) 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 bottle of sweet white wine Ingredients for Dragonfruit + Kiwi Sangria Slushie 2 large dragonfruit, cut into chunks 3 kiwis, cut into chunks juice of one small lime 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons sweetener 1/2 bottle of sweet white wine Directions: Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Add to cup with ice (crushed would be perfect). Garnish if you want but drink it up! …

|Honeydew + Kiwi| Frozen Margarita

I have the best friends. For no reason other than he had a spare one, I was presented with a brand new Tefal Mastermix with a 2 liter pitcher from my friend, Phil. He graciously donated it to my kitchen and me and the kitchen are so grateful. To celebrate the arrival of the new piece of equipment, I decided to bust its cherry making some margaritas. I am sure I made the right choice. They were delicious in every way. Ingredients 2 cups of honeydew, cubed 2 kiwis, cubed 2 tablespoons sweetener (I used organic maple syrup) 3/4 cup of tequila 1/4 cup lime juice 2 trays of ice cubes Directions Fill the blender pitcher with honeydew, kiwi, sweetener,  tequila and lime juice. Pulse until thoroughly blended. Add ice, a tray at a time and blend until its a perfect frozen treat. Pour into a glass. You can salt the rim if that’s your thing…I personally don’t like it because it always seems to get on my fingers and hair…ewww. NOTE: My honeydew was incredibly sweet. …
