Achasan Mountain|Top of Seoul|

024

So it’s not literally on the top of Seoul, there are bigger mountains in this city, but it does have some beautiful views of the Han River and the south…and I made it up there. Small miracles.  A bit of a hazy day, as it seems to always be in Seoul these days, but it has a great look, fresher air than the basin of Gangnam, and lots of people in full out hiking gear (snicker).

It’s a good little climb. I didn’t expect it to be quite as steep…but it only takes 30-40 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. There is more to see than I found today but it was already getting warm and I am tragically out of shape. Mountain climbing can only get easier, right?

Directions:

Take Line 5 to Achasan Station and go out exit 2. Turn left at the first intersection and then turn right at the first T in the street, Left at the second T. You will be going up a noticeable hill now. We just followed the hikers and they led us to the entrance.

However, if you don’t want to trust strangers leading the way, use these directions:

Take Subway Line 7 to Yongmasan Station (Exit 2) → Walk into the entrance of Hanshin Apartments, and walk ahead → Go up the stairs next to the pavilion and take a right past the playground to an exercise facility → Next to the facility, go up the stairs behind the wired fence. Per Visit Korea.

    • Yeah, I’ve heard the Seoul Zoo is quite nice! Sadly, I don’t go to zoos anymore for cruelty issues with them in general…but if I did this seems like a nice one 🙂

  1. Great information. Lucky me I recently found your blog by chance (stumbleupon).
I’ve saved as a favorite for later!
